August Wrap Up

August feels like it’s been a long month, but I guess that’s because a lot has been going on. I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have liked to, but I am ahead on my Goodreads challenge so I could afford to fall back a little bit.

Read

  • The Morning They Came For Us: Dispatches From Syria - Janine di Giovanni ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Everything You Told Me - Lucy Dawson ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Sailor Moon #1 - Naoko Takeuchi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Lady Stuff - Loryn Brantz ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Athena: The Grey Eyed Goddess - George O’Connor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Hera: The Goddess and Her Glory - George O’Connor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Aphrodite: Goddess of Love - George O’Connor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Artemis: Wild Goddess of the Hunt - George O’Connor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • An Autobiography - Agatha Christie ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Saga Vol. 6 - Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Norse Mythology - Neil Gaiman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Persepolis 2 - Marjane Satrapi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was on fire with the graphic novels this month, and I also read my first manga and LOVED it. My top three reads of August were The Morning They Came For Us, Sailor Moon #1, and Norse Mythology.

Oooookay. Forgetting the fact that August was my birthday month, I definitely hauled a lot this month. I won a wonderful giveaway from the Women’s Prize for Fiction and then also decided to start requesting more eARCs on Netgalley. Fortunately, all of the graphic novels I received for my birthday have now been read, and 2 of the books I acquired elsewhere (The Power and Wuthering Heights) are also books I’ve already read but didn’t own a copy of.

Personal Update

  • It was my birthday! I turned 22 and got to spend the day in Brighton with my friends after having a wonderful time at Brighton Pride festival
  • I moved in with my boyfriend! In preparation for our Master’s degrees, we have got ourselves a 1 bedroom flat and I love it - my books are finally all in the same place!
  • I got a job which I love - I now work in an ice cream cafĂ© with great people and it’s so good to finally be earning some money
